From Our President

As March unfolds and we transition into a new season, it's a pleasure to connect with all of you again through our newsletter. Each of us brings a unique perspective and set of experiences to our quilting journey. Whether we're sharing our latest projects or offering a listening ear to a fellow quilter, it’s a pleasure to see all your faces each month!

If you haven’t done so already, dues are to be paid at this month’s meeting. Thank you to our returning members who have already paid, and we would like to extend a warm welcome to those considering joining our quilt guild community for the first time. We would love for members to bring friends and fellow quilters to visit our guild!

I also want to thank each of you who helped make our booth successful at the Bloomington show! Whether you helped get our quilt made, quilted, finished, volunteered for the show, or sold tickets at our booth we appreciate the time you gave to our guild. So many helping hands made this possible!

During Doris’s presentation we will learn what criteria quilt judges use while judging quilts. This undoubtedly will improve our personal quilting with design and construction tips and tricks. Come see what happens before the ribbons are awarded! Bring as many quilts as you like for a morning of fun! Bring your quilt and have it judged…just for fun and as a way to receive feedback on how to improve your quilting! Come and enjoy talking about quilts even if you don’t have a quilt you would like critiqued. There is a great deal to learn during the critiques of works of art.

A sympathy card has been sent to Peggy Long.  Her niece was involved in a tragic auto accident in Illinois.
Also, Sue Newell’s brother passed away on March 9, and a card has been sent.

Donation Quilts
Susan Cinkoske, Lynne Secondino, Linda Cook, Karen Pollard

Thank you for your continued donations. Your generosity is inspiring!

We have had a request from the Villages of Indiana which operates in both Hendricks and Marion County finding homes for foster children. They need baby items such as bibs, blankets, burp cloths, changing pads, books, toys and especially clothes from infant to toddler. They cannot use bumpers or anything like that in a crib. April is going to be Baby Month, so please bring your items to the April meeting.

Quilts of Valor

Thanks to all who took the new 2024 quilt block kit.  I hope you enjoyed making it.  It takes 24 blocks to make a quilt top, so we should be able to make many tops in no time.  There will be more kits available at the meeting.

Thank you Mary and Leah for making kits.  Also just a reminder, if you took a pattern last meeting, hold on to it in case you want to make more blocks.  I’m trying to save on paper and printing.

Also thanks to those who took pillowcase kits.  There will also be more kits available at the meeting.

Scrapbasket quilt retreat will be at McCormick's Creek the weekend of Sept 6 and 7.   We will be able to accommodate 25 quilters.

At this time I have 15 people that have shown interest. If you are interested you will need to let me know so I can compile a list of attendees.

2024 Raffle Quilt

Our quilt went to the quilter 1 week ahead of schedule, thanks to the quick turnaround by our appliqué sewer.  Quilt is in the process of being quilted, binding and sleeve is prepped.  We are on schedule to have it done by February 28.

Thanks to all involved, this would not have been possible without your sewing expertise!

We will have more opportunities for our makers to sign a leaf of the back of the quilt before it leaves in October for raffle.

Individual raffle ticket sales will be available in March and there are opportunities to work at booth in Bloomington show and the Quilters Trail Shop Hop (Avon).
