Here Comes Spring!
Dear Quilting Friends,
As we step into March, we find ourselves surrounded by the promise of spring—a season of renewal and growth. This is the perfect time to reflect on our journey as a guild and all the wonderful things we’ve accomplished together. From stitching new friendships to creating beautiful quilts, our community continues to thrive because of your passion and dedication.
March brings with it new opportunities to explore creativity, share inspiration, and continue learning. Whether you’re planning your next quilt project, finishing a long-awaited masterpiece, or diving into a new quilting technique, let’s embrace the spirit of growth this month. We are all constantly learning and evolving in this art form, and that’s what makes it so special.
Our upcoming guild meetings are packed with exciting activities and educational sessions. This month we will celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with a program about the beautiful Celtic inspired quilts of Ireland. Don’t miss the chance to connect with fellow quilters, share your work, and enjoy the camaraderie we’ve built over time. I encourage each of you to take part, bring a friend, and share your quilting journey with others.
As always, thank you for being a part of our wonderful guild. Your enthusiasm and creativity are what make this guild such a vibrant and welcoming place. Let’s continue to inspire one another and create beautiful works of art that showcase our talents and the spirit of quilting!
Warmly,
Dana Sederoff

Programs and Workshops
March Program
Revel in some St. Patrick’s Day spirit with Leann McGiveron of Sumac Studios. She will share her lecture, Ireland Inspired-Interlacing Visual and Textile Arts. “A presentation that is the story behind ‘Ireland Inspired’ … how color bridges my work in travel photography with my Celtic knot textile/quilt pieces.”
April Program
Now you see it, Now you don’t. The Magic of Disappearing Blocks — “Learn about the magic and beauty of disappearing blocks with this interactive online lecture, demo and trunk show. Using 3 cameras, one on me and the quilts, one pointing straight down at the cutting mat, and one close-up on the quilts, I will be able to show you how easy it is to turn simple blocks into beautiful complex patterns. I will also show you how different block designs can be enhanced by color choices or slight modifications to make even more interesting full quilts.“
MAY Program
Erin Grogan from Love Sew Modern,
presents “Finding Your Quilty Identity”
“This lecture dives into the discovery of who you are as an artist as quilter. I’ve met many wonderful quilters who feel like they don’t know what they “like.” They say things like they only make quilts from kits or feel like they have to use what fabric is currently popular. There’s nothing wrong with this approach if it brings you joy, but if you’re looking to grow this is the lecture for you. I break down the four different stages of a quilter. I then share my process for finding the color palette that represents you.”
Committee Activities
Block of the Month & Challenges
Beth Archer
Hey quilters…. As you already know, we are combining the Block of the Month and Challenge Quilts together in 2025. That means that each month you will be “Challenged” to complete a block that meets the theme and technique for the month. In January the theme was “Celebrate the New Year”, and the technique was Crazy Quilting or Improvisation. February is “Love” with embroidery or embellishment. Each month will be a different theme and technique. If you want to work ahead, the Block Challenges are posted on our website. Remember, you get to choose the block size and color palette and be as creative as you would like. Use these blocks to challenge yourself to try new techniques or perfect them AND to try different color palettes. Channel your creative side.
At the end of the year, we will showcase your quilts and projects made from the blocks you created and have a little fun with a contest and prizes. You are welcome to bring your completed blocks each month to show off your project BECAUSE you know how much we love to see each other’s work. If you are running a little behind… no worries, plenty of time to catch up. Our final showcase will be in December.
Cheer
Rhonda Nelson
If you know of any Scrapbasket member needing a little cheer, please let Rhonda Nelson know. She will be happy to send a card from all of us. Thank you.
Donation Quilts
Cindi Johnson
March and April I would like to particularly gather lots of quilts and /or pillowcases for ages 0-18 to donate to Project Linus. Here is a link to Project Linus website for some pattern ideas. Any patterns for quilts are great, you don’t have to purchase theirs if you don’t want to. But if you are looking for new patterns check them out!
Thanks for all of your donations!!

Creating Together for Our Guild
Thank you to everyone who shared ideas at our last meeting! I’m excited to explore craft booth opportunities that will allow us to sell handmade items, promote our guild in the community, and spark interest in new members. To make this vision a reality, I’m asking each member to donate a handmade item (or multiple items) of your choice, valued at $20, to be sold to raise funds for future guild activities. You’re welcome to donate more than once if you’d like, and the number of items we receive will determine how many events we can participate in. Feel free to get creative—our Block of the Month Challenge could be a great source of inspiration for your contributions!
Additionally, I’m looking for members—or perhaps a small beelet—interested in organizing a raffle quilt for 2026. This will be a collaborative project involving all guild members, with a completion goal of late 2025. If you’d like to help lead this effort, please let me know. Together, we can make these projects a success and continue building an even stronger guild!

Quilts of Valor
A New Year and A New Quilt Block
QOV is going on hiatus for a few months while I recover from surgery.
BUT, don’t let that stop you and your friends from getting a head start on a QOV. The block this year is the log cabin. Directions with measurements, colors, and suggestions for settings can be found on the QOVF.org web page. The block is fun, fast, and easy. If you are cutting out one block, you might as well cut out a few more.
As in the past the guild will provide batting and backing for your quilt tops.
I will eventually have some block kits and pillowcase kits for you to do.
As always, Kay was over the moon thrilled with the quilts we made last year. She always says we do outstanding, quality work.
