From Our President

Hey Scrapbasket friends,

Happy Holidays to each of you.  Regardless of how you celebrate this season, I hope it is a blessed and wonderful time for you and your loved ones.  As a Christian, I am especially joyful for the birth of Jesus and the salvation that He brought to this world for all.  I truly hope that this season brings you joy, peace, and comfort.

This month’s meeting will start at 6:30 p.m. We are going to celebrate the season with a great meal, a few laughs, and perhaps a game or two. Bring your UGLIEST fat quarter.   Wear your favorite Holiday attire – even be brave and wear your favorite Ugly Christmas sweater if you choose.  Let’s plan on “taking a breath” and enjoy the company of our great quilting friends.  If you would like to share a sweet treat, please feel free to bring your favorite cookies/candies to share.

As we wrap the year, THANK YOU to each of you for making this a GREAT Scrapbasket Guild year.  We had a great team of leaders who went the extra mile to plan and carry out the many activities we accomplished this year.  We have much to celebrate including the amazing number of quilts and sewn items that were gifted; the great success of our Raffle Quilt; the wonderful retreat; all of your completed ‘challenge quilts’; the Block of the Month success; Staycation; the amazing programs each month; great newsletters; wonderful door prizes --  and perhaps most of all, the genuine friendships, love and care shown among us.  It has been a pleasure to serve as your president this year and I can’t thank this year’s leadership team enough for the great work and success.  We have a great team coming on next year and we can look forward to a great 2024.

Happy Holidays!

Beth Archer
2023 Scrapbasket President

Cheer
Rhonda Nelson

As a follow up from last month's meeting, a fresh flower arrangement was sent to Michael Stephens' funeral from our guild.

If you know of any Scrapbasket member needing a little cheer, please let Rhonda Nelson know. She will be happy to send a card from all of us. Thank you.

Donation Quilts
Susan Cinkoske, Cheri Guerrettaz, Bobbie Brinson

Thank you, everyone for all your donations! We donated 74 quilts, 43 stockings, 33 pillowcases, 8 baby items, and 264 Bingo prizes. Way to serve others.  Can’t wait to see your creations for 2024!

One of our stockings is on its way to a Plainfield man serving in the military.  I am friends with his grandmother and she was telling me about the Christmas box they were sending to him, so I let her choose a stocking for him.  She wanted to let you all know how thankful she was.

I will not be at the December meeting, so please hold your donations until the January meeting. I had several people step up to help with the donation quilts for 2024, so thank you to all of them.

Quilts of Valor

It’s time for the year end wrap up.  Scrapbasket QOV was very productive.   Drum roll.  You completed 22 quilts and 15 pillowcases.

Outstanding, ladies.  They have been presented to Kay Miller who was thrilled and elated and can hardly wait to start presenting them to our soldiers.

Again- thank you, thank you, thank you for all you did to make it a successful year.   Have a blessed Christmas and then we will fire up for the red, white, and blue in 2024.

For unto us a child is born, a son is given….he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6

Merry Christmas,

Susan

Retreat Wrap Up

The retreat at McCormick's Creek was fun, relaxing and I personally got a few things accomplished. I hope all those who were able to attend got a few projects done.  The quilt store is lovely down there.  Lisa from Unraveled is planning a new retreat in November if any of you are interested,She has a retreat a couple of times a year.

My question to the quilt guild is this retreat something you would like to do again?  We can book two years ahead, so we could plan for another retreat in September 2024, or early April 2025.  If you are interested please write me a note and let me know what you liked or what you would change. This could be time, place, or any other idea.  Please just email me at
merandarights@aol.com

Thanks to all those that attended.  Mary Lynne

2024 Raffle Quilt

Attention 2024 Raffle Quilt Construction Crew,

Thanks for a great month of sewing!! I was overwhelmed with the number of flowers that you all sewed and brought to November Guild Meeting. Thanks for your sewing time! I am even more excited about the progress. As for flowers, if you have any bring them to our December Construction Meeting at Library…extras will be for the back, kids quilt or we will make a baby quilt for raffle as well. For the overall quilt. I feel like we need at least 1 more big/taller flower and maybe another FPP sunflower…I just love how it turned out.

This month, we will work on a few more flowers, as mentioned, stars (both wonky and FPP), moths (FPP)…something I found and loved, and maybe even a bunny.  FPP patterns will be available at our library meeting.

Our next meetings will be:

Saturday, December 16th, 2023 from 9:30 AM-1:00 PM
and
Friday, January 19th, 2024 from 9:30am - 3:30pm

at the Brownsburg Public Library:  Roberts Room

Yours in Sewing,  Heather Kopeschka   317-445-3754

PS:  If one of you know of a room/church that we could use please let me know.  It could open up the options.

Wonky Star Update

Please keep bringing in your Wonky Star completions.  We can't wait to see them!
