Donation Quilts
from: Susan Cinkoske, Cheri Guerrettaz, Bobbie Brinson
Thank you to all who donated last year. We donated 63 stockings, 22 pillowcases,
53 bingo prizes, and 33 quilts to the Hendricks County Senior Citizens,
Brownsburg Meadows, Sheltering Wings and foster children. Plus one member
donated a quilt to Sheltering Wings for their annual auction.
We also have batting for any quilts that you would like to make for donation
quilts. Just call or email before Monday and I will bring to the January meeting.
Thanks to all who have donated last year! You are awesome.
Quilts of Valor
I’d like to share with you an email I received from Kay Miller before Christmas:
Wishing you a Blessed Christmas and a wonderful New Year.
Our QOV group awarded 105 quilts this year. This could not be possible without
the incredible help from the guild. I truly pray the guild will continue to help us in
the new year.
Deepest Thank you and gratefulness for your continued support through the years.
Kay
I hope you are ready to make some QOV.
Just a reminder about some QOV guidelines.
Size: minimum size 55” X 65”, maximum size 72” X 87”, ideal size 57” X 67”.
Use quality 100% cotton fabrics, preferably patriotic red, white, blue, and gold. No
children’s novelties or specific military branches. The majority of recipients are men.
You can make a completed quilt by yourself or with a group and turn it in. You
can make just a top, and I will see that is gets machine quilted. We have many
talented longarmers in the guild that are generous with their time and will quilt
them. I can provide batting, backing, and binding. When the tops are quilted I
will ask for binding help, we have many talented quilters who like to do bindings.
Also, I have some ideas up my sleeve for block patterns you can make, and we’ll
put them together into a quilt. We also need pillowcases.
You see there are lots of ways you can help and support our vets.
I am excited to start sewing QOV again after the holiday hiatus. Look for my little
red wagon at the quilt meeting to see if there is something that you might enjoy
doing.
