Our Staycation

  • SEW WHAT Staycation March 2, 2019
This will be the first Staycation for 2019, a simple version, if you will.  No particular theme, no door prizes, just come and sew with your guild friends for a day of fun and hopefully getting lots accomplished!!
We will be sewing at Bartlett Chapel United Methodist Church again, (4396 E Main St, Avon, IN 46123), starting at 9:00 AM until 4:00 PM.  Irons, ironing boards, and cutting tables will be set up for your use.  If anyone has a set of bedrisers you could let us borrow (we could probably use two sets), please let the committee know.

We will be having a pitch-in lunch, so be thinking about what you would like to bring! Paper products will be provided.  Bring your own drinks.

Also, please bring food pantry donations (cash donation also accepted) in appreciation of the use of the facilities.  They do not charge us to sew there, so this is our way of thanking them!

A sign-up sheet was passed around at the January guild meeting, and will be available at the next meeting.  Susie Jensen, Kim VanBuskirk, Allison Bowman, and Eileen Rivers are on the committee for this event, if you need further details.

  • Staycation 2016
Don’t have time to go on a week-long or even a weekend retreat? How about just one day? The Scrapbasket Staycation offers a comfortable, welcoming location where you can bring your sewing machine and work on your current project in the company of other friendly quilters. Sewing is sometimes interrupted by informative demonstrations, contests, and opportunities to snack. It’s a fun way to spend the day quilting with friends.

Ann Glass chairs this 2016’s Staycation committee. The plans sound very exciting.

A Day In the British Isles

Join us for a day away from your routine, and be whisked to the British Isles all for the price of $0.00!  That’s right, this year’s Staycation… is free, and guaranteed to be fun!

We will meet at the Bartlett Chapel United Methodist Church (4396 E. Main Street, Avon, Indiana 46123 – on Old 36 heading toward Danville) on Saturday, September 10 at 9am to get settled in.

Bring any projects you want to work on. No pressure. It is your day, and you will have many friends to oooh and aaah over efforts. It is a quilter’s dream.

At 10am the team will serve tea and homemade scones to warm your tummy. Lunch will be on your own.  There is a Subway, Wendy’s and Pancake House nearby at the Prestwick strip mall.  In the afternoon we will enjoy some biscuits (that’s cookies to us in the US of A).

During the day there will be door prizes awarded, and a surprise Scottish quilt kit for each participant.  Sign up to reserve your spot.  We hope to see you there.
